Clothespins are my preferred way to organize embroidery floss. I wrap the floss around and secure at the end. DMC embroidery floss number can be snipped off and slipped onto the end of the clothespin. I recommend securing the number with a dot of glue underneath. Alternatively, you could jot the number directly onto the clothespin. Either way, you have a system in place for keeping up with exactly what colors you need as you run out.
